Kickstart your new year learning a bunch of new skills, meeting amazing new people and have so much fun diving into improv. Yes, and/or you can gift this class to someone special!
This is our entry level class and is for people who have little to no improv experience but also for those who do have experience and may even feel they have a good grasp on improv. We will be start with the essential elements of what makes a good improv scene and expand from there into an introduction of Long-Form and higher concepts. We build the foundation for our entire curriculum as we introduce what makes our improv education so special with active listening, commitment, and finding the main source of comedy that you and your partner agree is driving the scene. We will start you on the path to performing at your highest level!

The Pretty Flower

Get ready for a night out of laughter at House Party Improv inside Black Potion in the historic Deco District of San Antonio that has become a comedy hub. Bring yourself, bring friends or make it date night!
With a huge selection beer and wine at the bar, check in grab a drink, and then down the hall where you will find our hidden comedy theater where our resident troupe House Party are waiting for you along with new cast members and hilarious friends made up of San Antonio's best improv performers and special guests ready to put on a show made up on the spot from your suggestions! Every show is unique and will never be the same twice, but you can always count on laughing your ass off.
What is The Pretty Flower? It is a form of improv that is centered on a grounded main scene almost like a one act play that branches off into hilarious tangents exploring the characters lives in the past or the future as well as the world they inhabit yet always returning to our central scene. Like a flower with petals (get it?). Just come laugh and follow the fun!
The Scary Flower will apply the spirit of the Halloween season to this form, as our cast injects each story with horror, spooky things and maybe even a little pumpkin spice.

Friday Night Improv
This is our staple show and the best weekly comedy show in San Antonio. Every Friday evening, a brand new comedy show is made up on the spot by the cast of our house troupe House Party. The show is a variety of acts including short form games like you would see on Wild N’ Out or Whose Line Is It Anyway followed by Long-form sets that can be described as a collection of connected skits or a hilarious improvised narrative play. Guest performances from other improv teams to stand up comics grace our stage often from all over San Antonio, Austin, and all across the country.
