Kickstart your new year learning a bunch of new skills, meeting amazing new people and have so much fun diving into improv. Yes, and/or you can gift this class to someone special!
This is our entry level class and is for people who have little to no improv experience but also for those who do have experience and may even feel they have a good grasp on improv. We will be start with the essential elements of what makes a good improv scene and expand from there into an introduction of Long-Form and higher concepts. We build the foundation for our entire curriculum as we introduce what makes our improv education so special with active listening, commitment, and finding the main source of comedy that you and your partner agree is driving the scene. We will start you on the path to performing at your highest level!

Enjoy a night of live, unscripted comedy at House Party Improv. Every show is different, with performers creating funny scenes from audience ideas. It’s a great choice for a date, friends, or a fun break. Our intimate theater located inside Black Potion makes you feel close to the fun and infected by the hilarious energy from our cast. Come ready to laugh, be surprised, and maybe join in on the unique comedy that happens only here. Every show is unique and will never be the same twice, but you can always count on laughing your ass off.
Our performers will be dressed in pajamas and robes, and we encourage our audience to come super comfy after all that feasting this week as well!

This special show will feature the graduation showcase of our latest Short Form: Level 1 students. If you love Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Dropout's Make Some Noise, or Nick Canon's Wild N' Out, you will have a wonderful time watching these hilarious students perform short form games all inspired by your suggestions hosted by their teacher Joshua Thomas.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:
This workshop will cover the differences between Organic and Premise based long-form improv and how to approach performing each style. We will dive into tips and tricks for pulling premises, and generating scenes ideas from various openings. Then taking it a step further working on the initiating lines to bring your scene partner and the audience on board as quickly as possible and get to having fun and making comedy happen.
***Though no experience is required, this is not a introduction to improv, we recommend those interested in learning long-form to go through our class curriculum.

With a huge selection beer and wine at the bar, check in grab a drink, and then down the hall where you will find our hidden comedy theater where our resident troupe House Party are waiting for you along with new cast members and hilarious friends made up of San Antonio's best improv performers and special guests ready to put on a show made up on the spot from your suggestions! What is The Pretty Flower? It is a form of improv that is centered on a grounded main scene almost like a one act play that branches off into hilarious tangents exploring the characters lives in the past or the future as well as the world they inhabit yet always returning to our central scene. Like a flower with petals (get it?). Just come laugh and follow the fun!
The Scary Flower will apply the spirit of the Halloween season to this form, as our cast injects each story with horror, spooky things and maybe even a little pumpkin spice.

This is our staple show and the best weekly comedy show in San Antonio. Every Friday evening, a brand new comedy show is made up on the spot by the cast of our house troupe House Party. The show is a variety of acts including short form games like you would see on Wild N’ Out or Whose Line Is It Anyway followed by Long-form sets that can be described as a collection of connected skits or a hilarious improvised narrative play. Guest performances from other improv teams to stand up comics grace our stage often from all over San Antonio, Austin, and all across the country.
